Member Guidelines

Membership in the FCCC is a privilege granted to children who abide by the following guidelines.

Do Your Best

FCCC expects the conductors, accompanists, and fellow choir members will do their best. Each chorister has the responsibility to do their best at all times.

Commitment to FCCC

Each chorister is committed for the full 2022/2023 season. There is no refund in case of withdrawal from the choir at any time.

Attendance Policy & Rehearsals

Each chorister is holding a highly valued place in his/her choir. FCCC’s attendance policy ensures the success and efficiency of our rehearsals.

  • Attendance is expected at all rehearsals, and attendance records are kept. Choristers must agree to make no regular commitments that conflict with rehearsals. If the number of absences begins to affect either the chorister’s or the choir’s progress, parents/guardians will be contacted to discuss their child’s continued participation. Attendance will be one of the criteria for placement in FCCC’s four choirs each year.
  • Rehearsals will begin promptly as scheduled. Plan to arrive 15 minutes early to check-in and find your seat.
  • Choristers must remain in FCCC rehearsal space; they may not move around facility.
  • Choristers should be picked up immediately after rehearsals and performances. After our rehearsal, choristers will wait at facility entry until a parent/guardian arrives for their transportation home.
  • If parent/guardian is late for pick up, we will enforce a $.50 per minute late fee.
  • If you know in advance that your child will miss a rehearsal, email manager@SingFCCC.org.
  • If a last-minute illness or other crises occurs, email manager@SingFCCC.org

  • After two absences, each additional absence must be made up within three weeks.
  • Chamber and Concert Choir make-up by attending a Chorus/Chorale rehearsal from 6:00-7:30 pm
  • Choristers who do not make-up rehearsals promptly will have their membership in the FCCC terminated.

Chorus & Chorale Attendance Policy

Choristers may miss two rehearsals per semester (September-December & January-June) without a consequence. No distinction between excused and unexcused.

  • Attendance awards will be given to those with outstanding attendance throughout the year. We hope to give many!

Behavior

Full attention and outstanding behavior are expected at all times. Talking during rehearsals is neither appropriate nor acceptable.

Learning Music & Solos

Each chorister is responsible for learning the music for each concert. No chorister will be required to perform a solo, nor will there be enough solos for all choristers.

Facility

Members of the FCCC must always remember that we are guests of our rehearsal location and, as such, we must respect the facility, equipment, and grounds at all times. FCCC members should enter and exit the building at the side auditorium door and go directly to the assigned rehearsal room. Any misuse of rehearsal property will result in dismissal from the FCCC.

School Music Programs

The FCCC is an outgrowth of each chorister’s school music program. It is expected that all FCCC members be active participants in their school music programs.

Music Binders

The music, music binders, and any music books provided for each chorister are the property of the FCCC and must be returned in good condition. A $50 fee will be charged for Chamber Singer binders and a $35 fee for Concert Choir, Chorale, and Chorus binders not returned. Fees will also be charged for music or books not returned or returned in poor condition.

Name Tags

Each chorister is required to wear her/his name tag at each rehearsal. This enables our music staff to get to know the choristers, as well as helping the children to get to know each other. There will be a $3.00 charge to replace lost name tags.

Concert Dress

Choristers not in uniform concert dress will not be permitted to perform in the concerts.

  • Dress: Black knit princess gowns. Female concert dress must be ordered through the choir. More information will be emailed after the first rehearsal with specific instructions regarding prices, measurements, and deadlines.  Choristers must also wear black opaque stockings or tights and black dress shoes.
  • Tuxedo: White tuxedo shirts, black tuxedo pants and jackets, black cummerbunds, and bow ties. More specific details will be emailed after the first rehearsal. If your child already has a tuxedo, they may wear it. Black dress shoes and socks are required.

Items for Rehearsals

  • Water Bottle – Water helps to maintain healthy voices. All choristers should bring a full, sealed water bottle to each rehearsal.
  • Pencil – Choristers should bring a sharpened pencil to every rehearsal.
  • Do Not Bring – Chewing gum, food, or carbonated beverages. Please avoid consuming chocolate or milk products before rehearsals.
  • Cell Phones – MUST be turned off and put away during rehearsals and concerts.

Dismissal from FCCC

Failure to abide by any of these guidelines may result in dismissal from the group.
