Three Generations of Song is a celebration of the state of the Choral Art in Connecticut, proclaiming that choral music is alive and thriving throughout our region! Involving choristers of all ages, we are pleased to showcase three outstanding choirs representing similar choral programs throughout Connecticut, The Mendelssohn Choir of Connecticut, The Fairfield University Glee Club and the Fairfield County Children’s Choir.
The Fairfield County Children’s Choir, now celebrating their 25th anniversary, is one of five community youth choral programs in the state which together involve over 2500 children! When added to the well-established choirs at schools and religious institutions, we can surely see that the future of the Choral Art is bright. Connecticut’s colleges and universities proudly support many outstanding choral programs. The Fairfield University Glee Club exemplifies the myriad groups that perform everything from classical masterworks to a cappella doo-wop styles. The Mendelssohn Choir of Connecticut is one of the many community choirs that provide adults the opportunity to continue their love of singing!
Selections will include “Gloria in excelsis” from Gloria in D by Antonio Vivaldi, “Ecce Novum” by Ola Gjeilo, “Exsultate Justi” by Lodovico da Viadana, “Clear Water” by Robert Hugh, “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” arranged by Moore, “Song of the Wanderer” by Dan Forrest and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” arr. Emerson.
